Bucs’ Richard Sherman (hamstring) ruled out for rest of game
Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman departed Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first quarter due to a hamstring injury. The team ruled him out for the rest of the game.
Sherman was injured just past the midway point of the quarter on a play in which Philadelphia’s Quez Watkins caught a 23-yard pass. Sherman immediately signaled to the Tampa Bay sideline that he needed to be replaced.
Sherman’s injury comes with the Buccaneers already depleted in the secondary. Cornerbacks Carlton Davis (quadriceps) and Sean-Murphy Bunting (elbow) are on injured reserve and safety Antoine Winfield (concussion) is sidelined for the second straight game.
Sherman joined the Buccaneers two-plus weeks ago when Tampa Bay needed cornerback help and he started that Sunday night against the New England Patriots. He had 10 tackles and one fumble recovery in his first two games with the Buccaneers.
Sherman was credited with the tackle on the play in which he was injured against the Eagles. He touched the fallen Watkins after coming up lame.
