Cardinals bring OLB Golden back to the desert

Outside linebacker Markus Golden is headed back to the desert after the Arizona Cardinals acquired the former second-round draft pick from the New York Giants on Friday for a 2021 sixth-round selection.

Golden just played in the Giants’ 22-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, recording a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits.

The Cardinals made Golden the 58th overall selection in the 2015 draft and he proceeded to play four seasons with the team. Of his 46 games in Arizona, 24 of them were starts. He recorded a career-best 12.5 sacks in 2016 when he had 51 tackles.

Golden, 29, signed a one-year deal to join the Giants in 2019, recording 10 sacks and a career-best 72 tackles. The Missouri product signed another one-year deal with the Giants prior to this season.

The Cardinals hope Golden can help the pass rush after defensive end Chandler Jones was lost for the remainder of the season with a biceps injury.
