Bears vs Panthers Pick, Betting Analysis

If you bet on Carolina the past 10 times they were favorites, you would have lost seven bets. So 3-7 ATS is not a great streak when laying points, which they do here in Week 6 vs the Chicago Bears. The Panthers have won three in a row, and they are surprising favorites against a Bears team coming off 10 days rest (after a big win against Brady and the Bucs on Thursday Night in Week 5).

We see the Bears are the better football team in this game, and they’re getting a point to boot. I will take that all day.

Bears Panthers Odds: Chicago -1 Total 44.5 at BetRivers Illinois | Matchup Report

Why Chicago can cover the spred

The Bears got their biggest win of the season last week, and look like they might have something with Nick Foles at QB. Foles threw for 243 yards last week, on 42 attempts which is a little more than Nagy would have wanted. This week, Nagy should look to get his run game established. The Panthers own the 28th ranked run defense, and gave up 8.6 yard per carry to Todd Gurley last week.

The Bears pass rush came to life last week, and they will need to get after Teddy Bridgewater this week. Teddy is playing well over his last three games, however he has yet to see a defense like this one. The Bears held Tom Brady to only 253 yards on only 6.2 YPA, and were able to make him uncomfortable in the pocket all game.

Why Carolina will cover the spread

After starting 0-2, the Panthers have won three straight and are right in the thick of things in the NFC. They youngest team in the league has been a pleasant surprise this season. The Panthers are led by Bridgewater, who is averaging a miraculous 8.2 YPA.

The Panthers run attack has not missed a beat with McCaffery out of the lineup, as Mike Davis leads the league in yards from scrimmage since McCaffery’s injury. The Bears gave up over 6.2 YPC to Ronald Jones last week, so the Panthers should attack the Bears run defense heavily to slow down their pass rush.

Bears Panthers pick

This is an under the radar game due to all the good matchups in Week 6. The Bears are entering the game on 10 days rest, which gives new starter Foles more time to gel with this offense. I’m rolling with the Bears in this one, and I expect this to be a very low scoring game. Take the Bears at +1 and the UNDER.
