Chris Long: Retired OG Kyle Long returning in 2021

Retired NFL defensive end Chris Long said his younger brother, three-time Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long, plans to come out of retirement and play the 2021 season.

Where Kyle Long lands is uncertain but he’s an unrestricted free agent. When Long, a first-round pick who played 77 games in seven seasons with the Bears, retired in 2019, he was released by Chicago in a procedural move.

Long, 32, battled injuries throughout his career and missed 12 games in 2019, a year after playing only eight games due to injuries. In 2019, his season was ended by a hip injury. It was the fourth season in a row Long ended the year on injured reserve.

Rejoining the Bears might not be an option considering Long’s criticism of the team during retirement. He reportedly flirted with playing last season and was rumored to be in talks with the New York Jets during training camp.
