Cowboys add 2 players to COVID list; total at 6

The Dallas Cowboys added two more players — both starters — to the reserve/COVID list Wednesday, bringing to six the total number of players sidelined days ahead of the team’s preseason finale.

Starting safety Damontae Kazee and starting left guard Connor Williams were added to the list Wednesday. Of the six players on the list, four have tested positive, including Kazee and Williams.

In addition, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is away from the team after testing positive. The Cowboys’ coaching staff is 100 percent vaccinated and 93 percent of the players are, too.

Williams practiced Tuesday while Kazee did not.

The other players on the list are safeties Malik Hooker and Israel Mukuamu, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and defensive tackle Carlos Watkins.

Quinn and Watkins missed Saturday’s preseason game after being sent home earlier in the day.

The Cowboys are scheduled to host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy said the Cowboys are planning on playing the game despite a decimated defensive backfield.

The Cowboys open the regular season Sept. 9 at Tampa Bay.
