Cowboys’ McCarthy: LT Smith ‘on track to play’ vs. Browns
Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith is “on track to play” against the Cleveland Browns this weekend, coach Mike McCarthy announced on Friday.
“He did everything (Thursday),” McCarthy said. “I think we’re definitely heading in the direction of him playing on Sunday.”
McCarthy’s assessment comes on the heels of Smith being a limited participant in practice on Thursday. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro has missed the last two games due to a neck injury.
Smith, 29, has started all 132 games in which he has appeared since being selected by the Cowboys with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys (1-2) will bid to bounce back from a 38-31 loss to Seattle on Sunday (1 p.m. ET) against the Browns (2-1), who have won both games following a season-opening loss to Baltimore.
