Dolphins WR Will Fuller (personal reasons) out indefinitely

Miami Dolphins receiver Will Fuller won’t play Sunday against the visiting Buffalo Bills due to a personal issue, coach Brian Flores told reporters Friday.

Fuller is not with the Dolphins, and it isn’t clear when he will return. Flores would not go into further detail, and he declined to answer whether he expects Fuller’s absence will be a long one.

“I’ve had multiple conversations with him over the last couple of days. He’s definitely dealing with a personal issue,” Flores said, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “We support Will and we’ll take it one day at a time.”

Fuller didn’t play in the Dolphins’ 17-16 Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. He was serving the final game of a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. He missed five games to end the 2020 season with the Houston Texans due to the punishment.

The 27-year-old Fuller signed a one-year, $10.625 million contract with the Dolphins in March. It includes $10 million in guaranteed money.

“Things arise in our lives,” Flores said. “That’s kind of what he’s dealing with right now. He has our support. He has my support. And is it a surprise? Things happen. They happen and they’re not part of your normal everyday — yeah it’s a surprise from that standpoint. But, we deal with it.”

The Texans selected the Notre Dame product with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 53 games (52 starts), he has 209 receptions for 3,110 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Despite playing in just 11 games last season, he caught eight passes for touchdowns and averaged 16.6 yards per catch — both career highs.
