Falcons designate CB Dennard for return from IR
The Atlanta Falcons designated Darqueze Dennard for return from injured reserve on Monday, and there’s an expectation that the cornerback could play in Week 9.
Dennard missed all of October with a hamstring injury. The team has 21 days to activate him.
Dennard left Atlanta’s Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears after a monster game, including an interception in the end zone, two passes defensed and six tackles. Dennard graded out as the Falcons’ best defender in the game, earning an 82.7 score from Pro Football Focus. Dennard had started in place of A.J. Terrell, who was on the reserve/COVID-19 list at the time. Terrell is now back on the active roster.
Dennard will practice this week and could be activated in time to play against the Denver Broncos. The Falcons (2-6) have won two of their past three.
Dennard was selected in the first round (24th overall) of the 2014 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Falcons signed him to a one-year contract in August.
He has four career interceptions and 25 passes defensed in 80 games (26 starts).
