Falcons WR Jones’ (hamstring) status unclear for Week 3

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones aggravated his hamstring in last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, throwing his status for Week 3 into question.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that the team will “take it all the way through” this week before making any decisions.

Jones, limited in practice last week with the injury, finished with just two catches for 24 yards in the Falcons’ devastating 40-39 loss to the Cowboys.

“He definitely strained it in the game from where he felt from Wednesday and Thursday and Friday of doing reps and going through it,” Quinn said. “We’ll take it all the way through (the week). This is a guy who really understands his body, knows how to work through it. But in his defense, certainly he was ready to go and battle for it all the way through.”

The winless Falcons host the Chicago Bears (2-0) on Sunday.

Jones, 31, has been dealing with the hamstring issue since tweaking it during a scrimmage on Aug. 28, Quinn said last week.

Jones has 11 catches for 181 yards through the first two games without a touchdown grab. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All Pro has 12,306 yards receiving and 57 touchdowns for his career.
