Giants Eagles Pick, TNF Betting Preview

Who will win Thursday Night Giants Eagles game?

The New York Giants have lost 13 in a row SU as an underdog, just in case you were looking for evidence supporting a Giants moneyline bet. The G-Men are 4.5-point dogs against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are 5-0 on Thursday Night football under Doug Pederson.

The Eagles showed resilience almost coming back last week against the Baltimore Ravens, and I think that will transfer into this game. I like the Eagles covering the spread on Thursday Night Football, despite impressive ATS runs by the Giants on the road and as underdogs.

Why the Eagles can cover the spread

The Eagles lost 30-28 in a hard fought game last week against the Ravens, and QB Carson Wentz showed tons of heart. He simply carried his team, scoring 22 points in the 4th quarter, but ultimately couldn’t convert the two point conversion to tie the game.

Wentz has been a completely different QB the last three games. After a rocky start, he has 5 TDs and 3 INTs during that stretch, and has found a new favorite target in Travis Fulgham. Travis has been a bright spot for this Eagles offense, and will have a favorable matchup on Thursday Night.

The Giants have struggled against WRs thus far, but have been good against RBs and TEs. The Eagles will have DeSean Jackson back for Thursday Night, opening the door for Wentz to finally have two competent WRs by his side. They also get Lane Johnson back at RT.

On defense, the Eagles will be going against the worst DVOA offense in the NFL, and should be able to feast on this offensive line. Rookie RT Andrew Thomas will get the start on Thursday Night, and he has given up a league high 31 pressures this season. In short, they are a better team and play at home in a divisional battle with first place in the NFC East sadly on the line.

Why the Giants can cover the spread

The Giants got their 1st win of the season on Sunday against Washington, as Daniel Jones threw for 112 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

The Giants best bet in this game is to get after Wentz. The Eagles will be starting four backup Offensive Linemen in this game, and have given up the most sacks in the NFL. Wentz was hit 16 times against the Ravens, and has been under constant duress all season.

On offense, the Giants should attack the Eagles with the quick passing game. The Steelers and Rams had plenty of success with this game plan, as the Eagles strength is their defensive line. Darius Slayton has been an Eagles killer since entering the league, so the Giants will need him to continue that on Thursday Night.

About those impressive trends dug up by Trend Dummy? They have covered 6 straight on the road and are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 road games. That trend mimics a 13-2 ATS run as a road underdog.

Giants Eagles pick

I think the 4.5 spread is just too small to take the Giants here. Even with all the injuries, the Eagles have the superior roster and QB, and have been playing better football as of late. I think this is a “get right” game for the Eagles offense, and they win this game by at least a touchdown.
