Giants LB Carter ruptures Achilles, needs surgery
New York Giants linebacker Lorenzo Carter ruptured his left Achilles tendon in Sunday’s 37-34 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and will have surgery this week.
The team confirmed the news Monday after reports indicated Carter was out for the season.
The non-contact injury happened in the first quarter at AT&T Stadium, and he was carted off the field.
Carter, 24, is in his third year with the Giants. A Georgia product, he was a third-round draft pick by New York in 2018.
In five games this season, he has 15 tackles (two for a loss), one sack, one pass defensed and four quarterback hits.
In 35 games (19 starts) with the Giants, he has 103 tackles (15 for loss). 9.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed and 27 QB hits.
