Texans vs Steelers Pick Week 3 Bet

The Houston Texans are in desperate need of a win on Sunday, which makes them a dangerous team to bet against in Week 3. But it will be tough sledding for them as they take on the 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers barely snuck in a win last week against the Denver Broncos, who had Jeff Driskel as their quarterback. I like the Texans to keep this a close game, and I’m riding with Houston at +4.

Why Houston will cover the spread

I think Bill O’Brien needs a win more than any coach in the league this week. He is under the microscope with the skeptical personnel decisions he’s made this offseason, and a win against Pittsburgh would be crucial for him.

Houston has the speed on the outside to cause the Steelers some problems. Pittsburgh’s secondary got exposed last week, especially late in the game. A backup QB (Driskel) put up 256 yards through the air in only three quarters of play, which is good news for the Texans. If they can protect Deshaun Watson, their weapons on the outside should be able to get open often.

Why Pittsburgh will cover the spread

The Steelers avoided a scare on Sunday against the Broncos. Denver had the ball on their side of the field late in the game on their way to take the lead, but the Steelers defense prevailed and sealed the win. It won’t be that easy this week, as Houston has a much better offense than the Broncos do.

If the Steelers are going to cover they will need to continue their offensive dominance. Ben Roethlisberger has shown he’s still got it, throwing for 540 yards and five TDs in his first two games. Houston’s defense played pretty well last week, holding Lamar Jackson to only 204 yards.

Houston vs Pittsburgh pick

Overall, I think this will be a very low-scoring game. Yes, Houston is the best offense Pittsburgh has played but they are just too good at getting after the quarterback. Pittsburgh has 10 sacks through two games, which is a record-breaking pace. I like this game to be decided by a field goal, so take Houston +4 and hammer the UNDER.
