Hurts to start at QB for Eagles in Week 16
Jalen Hurts has earned himself another start for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, coach Doug Pederson announced Monday.
“Obviously, Jalen Hurts will start again this week,” Pederson told reporters.
The rookie played well in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, finishing 24-for-44 passing with 338 yards and three touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of 102.3. Hurts, who also rushed for 63 yards and a score, put the Eagles in position to tie the game, with two Hail Mary pass attempts into the end zone in the final seconds.
Hurts is now 1-1 as a starter since taking over for Carson Wentz. The Eagles (4-9-1) travel to play the Dallas Cowboys (5-9) this Sunday.
“The team doesn’t feel there’s any animosity between the guys,” Pederson said, referring to Hurts and Wentz.
ESPN reported Sunday that Wentz is not in interested in staying with the Eagles as a backup.
