Colts vs Browns, Indy favored

The Cleveland Browns are 3-19 SU in their last 22 games played in October. However, this is a different Browns team. They are winners of three in a row, and will play a team that has also won three in a row in the Indianapolis Colts.

Both these teams seem like contenders in the AFC, and this should be the game of the week. I like the Colts to win, and cover the 1.5 point spread.

Colts Browns Odds: +1.5 Cleveland Total 47 at BetRivers | Matchup Report

Why the Colts will cover the spread

After an embarrassing loss Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts have won three in a row and are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL. The Colts have been led by their defense, which has been lights out since Week 1. The Colts have given up a combined 29 points the last three weeks, an average of 9.6 per game.

Even with their defense playing spectacular, they will cover this game with their passing offense. Philip Rivers has thrown less than 200 yards in three straight, and I like for that to change on Sunday.

The Browns gave up more than 500 yards over the air to the Cowboys last week, and have overall struggled with their passing defense. The Colts currently have one of the better offensive line units in the NFL, which should be able to contain Myles Garrett.

Why the Browns will cover the spread

Don’t look now, but the Browns are 3-1 and looking like a legit threat in the AFC. The Browns offense has changed into a run-first style offense, and boy has it done wonders for them. They currently own the best rushing offense in the league, averaging 204 yards per game on the ground.

They will have to continue that trend to cover the spread. The Colts run a more laid back style defense and rarely stack the box. If the Browns can get Kareem Hunt going early, that should open up the middle of the field for Baker Mayfield.

Colts Browns betting pick

I think the Colts defense will be too much for the Browns to handle. The Colts own the 4th best rushing defense in the NFL, and with Nick Chubb sidelined due to injury, the Browns will have a hard time moving the ball. Give me the Colts -1.5.
