Jaguars’ Myles Jack, Jets’ Quinnen Williams added to COVID list

The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets will be without prominent defensive starters when they meet Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Just hours before kickoff, the Jaguars placed linebacker Myles Jack on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and the Jets added defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to their list.

Jack joins defensive end Josh Allen, wide receiver Laviska Shenault, offensive lineman Ben Bartch and linebacker Jordan Smith on the list for the Jaguars.

The Jets have more than a dozen players on their list, as well as head coach Robert Saleh, who will miss the game. Tight ends coach Ron Middleton will take over for Saleh on Sunday.

Jack, 26, has started 13 games on the season and has 97 tackles (three for loss) and two quarterback hits.

In six seasons in Jacksonville, Jack has 502 tackles (19 for loss), 17 quarterback hits, 6.5 sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles in 86 games (80 starts).

Williams, 24, has started 14 games this year and has six sacks to go with 50 tackles (seven for loss) and 12 quarterback hits.

In his three seasons in New York, the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2019 has played in 40 games (36 starts) and has 133 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The Jets (3-11) and Jaguars (2-12) long have been eliminated from playoff contention. Instead, the outcome will impact the order of the 2022 NFL Draft.
