Jaguars QB Luton to start vs. Steelers

Rookie quarterback Jake Luton will remain the starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars this week with Gardner Minshew not yet cleared from a thumb injury.

Luton and the Jaguars face the 9-0 Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

The Steelers are sixth in total defense (318.1 yards allowed per game) and have 17 takeaways in nine contests.

Luton, an Oregon State product who was a sixth-round pick by the Jaguars, will start for the third time. Minshew is returning to practice this week, but not quite ready for game action, head coach Doug Marrone said on Monday.

The Jaguars are 1-8 this season, including a 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers at windy Lambeau Field on Sunday.

Luton completed 18 of 35 passes against the Packers for 169 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He has thrown for 473 yards in two games with two TDs and two interceptions.
