Jets G Cameron Clark has ‘some’ movement after neck injury

New York Jets offensive lineman Cameron Clark sustained a neck injury in practice Tuesday was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Coach Robert Saleh told reporters that Clark had “some” movement in his extremities.

Saleh said he wasn’t sure exactly how Clark, in his second season with the Jets, sustained the injury. Clark, 23, was placed on a spine board and taken to Morristown Medical Center near the team headquarters in Florham Park, N.J.

Tuesday was the first practice in pads and the injury occurred during 11-on-11 drills on the final play of the second-to-last practice period. The session was canceled after that.

Saleh said he was awaiting further news.

“I’m an optimist, and God willing, everything is going to be just fine. Like I said, we’ll wait for the evaluation,” he said. “Our doctors were all available and they tended to him pretty quickly and did a nice job. … I was there to give him whatever I could, but for me, at that moment, it was about the doctors and him.”

Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson called the event “scary.”

“We still don’t know what it is, obviously. But it’s just what it takes to get to this position and then just how that can change your life,” he said. “We still don’t know how serious anything is, but you just feel for the dude. … It’s just a scary situation when someone’s getting carted off the field. You just pray that he’s going to be all right.”

The Jets selected the 6-foot-4 Clark in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Charlotte. He did not see the field last season.
