Jets QB Darnold to start Sunday ‘barring any setbacks’
New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will start Sunday against the Buffalo Bills “barring any setbacks” in practice Friday, coach Adam Gase said.
Darnold, 23, missed the past two games with a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder.
With veteran backup Joe Flacco under center, the Jets (0-6) managed to score a combined 10 points in Darnold’s absence while losing to the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.
Darnold has completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 792 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions in four starts. He has rushed 14 times for 117 yards and one score and has been sacked 12 times.
The Bills (4-2) have lost two straight heading into Sunday afternoon’s AFC East clash in East Rutherford, N.J. Buffalo beat New York 27-17 in the season opener.
