Jets WR Jamison Crowder day-to-day with COVID
Vaccinated New York Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder is day-to-day after testing positive for COVID-19 last week, head coach Robert Saleh said Monday.
Crowder could play in the Jets’ season-opener on Sunday against Carolina.
Saleh also said left tackle Mekhi Becton will be cleared from the concussion protocol Tuesday.
Crowder, put on reserve/COVID-19 on Friday, can rejoin the team if he returns two negative tests at least 24 hours apart, and is asymptomatic.
Crowder, 28, led the Jets in receptions (59), receiving yards (699) and touchdown catches (six) last season.
Crowder had been considered day-to-day with a groin injury ahead of his positive test.
He has 358 career catches for 4,160 yards and 26 touchdowns in 84 games (47 starts) with New York (2019-20) and Washington (2015-18), which selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Becton left a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 24 after a head-to-head collision and was placed in the protocol. Becton, 22, was the Jets’ first-round draft pick (11th overall) in 2020 and started 13 of his 14 games as a rookie.
