The Detroit Lions re-signed defensive back Mike Ford and released linebacker Christian Jones and center Russell Bodine on Monday.

Ford, 25, was set to become a restricted free agent. He had 12 tackles in nine games (one start) in 2020.

Ford has 47 tackles and four passes defensed in 31 games (seven starts) with Detroit since 2018.

Jones, 30, was due to earn $3.17 million for 2021 and his release clears $2.55 million in cap space. He played all 16 games with 13 starts in 2020, registering 53 tackles.

Jones has 421 tackles, seven sacks and 17 quarterback hits in 108 games (73 starts) with the Chicago Bears (2014-17) and Lions (2018-20).

Bodine, 28, has not played since the 2018 season. His release cleared another $850,000 in cap space for the Lions as they prepare to start the new league year.
