Importantly for you stats guys and gals out there – he posted those numbers in only 15 games and was the only running back in the league to average more than 100 YPG rushing. And then he exploded in the playoffs as well.
Who is next on NFL rushing yards odds lists?
Following Henry on the odds list are Cleveland Brown’s Nick Chubb and Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott both at +800.
Chubb finished second behind Henry last season with 1,494 yards. He appeared in all 16 games for Cleveland last season and ended up averaging 93.4 YPG. That was also second best in the league behind Henry.
Elliott has already led the league in rushing twice in 2016 and in 2018. His career-best mark for a season is 1,631 yards which he did as a rookie in 2016 in only 15 games. Elliott rushed for only 1,357 yards last season and may have trouble topping the 1,500-yard mark again with the overload of targets Dallas has in the passing game this season.
Rounding out the Top 5 on the SugarLand rushing yards odds list are: New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley at +900, and Carolina Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey at +1100. Barkley was among the favorites to lead the league in rushing last season, but after injuries limited him to 13 games he just barely cracked the 1000-yard mark with 1003 yards. McCaffery’s rushing totals have increased every year in his short career, and last season he posted 1387 rushing yards in 16 games.
WHAT ARE THE DARKHORSE PICKS OR SOLID VALUE BETS?
Two value bets that bettors may want to consider are the Las Vegas Raiders Josh Jacobs at +1400 and the Arizona Cardinals Kenyan Drake at +2000. As a rookie last season, Jacobs rushed for an impressive 1,150 yards in 13 games.
More importantly, he was third in the league in rushing yards per game with 88.5 Don’t let Drake’s 817 rushing yards from a year ago fool you. He spent the first half of the season buried on the Miami Dolphins bench. Following a mid-season trade to the Cardinals, he took off. From his 817 rushing yards, he racked up 413 of them in only three games with the Cardinals.
Are there darkhorse or value bets this year?
One other interesting pick for bettors could be Kansas City Chiefs’ rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire. With Chiefs starting running back Damien Williams opting out of the season because of COVID-19, the starting job will fall to Edwards-Helaire.
He rushed for 1414 yards at LSU last year and it will be interesting to see what he can do with the reigning Super Bowl champions.
