OBJ has first full-speed practice in return from ACL injury

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. went through his first full-speed practice Thursday in his return from an ACL injury that wiped out more than half of his 2020 season.

The live drills marked Beckham’s first reps with the first-team offense since tearing his ACL last October. He missed the Browns’ final nine games of the regular season and playoff games.

Beckham had been limited to individual drills until Thursday.

Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt told reporters the hope is that Beckham will be ready for the Browns’ opener vs. Kansas City on Sept. 12.

“I’m not sure where that’s going right now, but he looks really good,” Van Pelt said. “He’s running well. He’s coming in and out of his breaks. He’s cutting well. Hopefully we can get him up there for the opener.”

Beckham caught 23 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns in seven games in 2020. The three-time Pro Bowl selection has five 1,000-yard seasons since the New York Giants drafted him 12th overall in 2014.
