Packers’ Adams back at practice, Lazard (core muscle) out

The Green Bay Packers saw Davante Adams return to practice on Thursday, but the health of another of the team’s wide receivers reportedly is very much in question.

Allen Lazard sat out the session with a core muscle injury. That injury could be troublesome, considering ESPN reported that noted core muscle specialist Dr. William Meyers will look at his scans to determine if surgery is needed.

Lazard, 24, had six catches for a career-best 146 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay’s 37-30 victory at New Orleans on Sunday night. His big game occurred in the absence of Adams, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Lazard, who has 13 receptions, leads the Packers in receiving yards (254) while his two touchdown catches are tied with Adams and tight end Robert Tonyan for top honors on the club.

Lazard has 49 receptions for 738 yards and five touchdowns in 20 career games with the Packers.

As for Adams, he admitted on Thursday that he was “feeling a lot better this week than last week.” He added that he is going to “make sure I’m 100 percent before I’m back out there.”

The Packers officially won’t have to make that decision until Monday, when they host the Atlanta Falcons (0-3). Marquez Valdes-Scantling would see an uptick in snaps if Adams can’t play.

Adams has recorded 17 receptions for 192 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season for the Packers (3-0). The three-time Pro Bowl selection has 448 receptions for 5,386 yards and 46 scores in his six-plus seasons with Green Bay.

Tight end Josiah Deguara (ankle), linebacker Christian Kirksey (pectoral) and tight end Marcedes Lewis (knee) did not practice on Thursday. Kirksey is in jeopardy of missing multiple games.

Defensive lineman Kenny Clark (groin), and linebackers Rashan Gary (ankle), Randy Ramsey (groin) and Za’Darius Smith (ankle) were limited participants.
