Packers’ revenue drops 27 percent in 2020

For the first time since 2000, the Green Bay Packers organization lost money in fiscal year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The team reported $409.8 million in expenses compared to $371.1 million in revenue — the main cause being no spectators during home games in the regular season.

Team CEO/president Mark Murphy is optimistic that last year will be a blip on the radar moving forward.

“The pandemic had a significant impact on our finances. But that said, I think the Packers remain in a very strong position financially,” Murphy said Friday in a news conference.

Green Bay expects to be full capacity at historic Lambeau Field this season and will also welcome fans during training camp.

The Packers are the NFL’s only publicly owned franchise and disclose their revenues each year.

In 2019, the team pulled in a record $506.9 million.
