Panthers part ways with OC Joe Brady
The Carolina Panthers fired offensive coordinator Joe Brady on Sunday with five games remaining in his second season with the team.
Senior offensive assistant Jeff Nixon will assume Brady’s duties for the remainder of the season.
The Panthers (5-7) are on their bye week and have lost three of their last four games.
“I met with Joe this morning and informed him that I have decided to make a change,” head coach Matt Rhule told the team website on Sunday. “I’m very grateful to him for his time and effort in helping us get established over this past year and a half.”
Brady, 32, was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU during the Tigers’ unbeaten national championship season in 2019. He received the Broyles Award that year as the best assistant in college football.
Prior to that, he was an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints from 2017-18.
Entering Sunday, the Panthers ranked 28th in the NFL in total offense (308.7 yards per game).
