Rams’ Robert Woods comes out on top to wear No. 2
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods will wear the No. 2 jersey this season, the team announced Tuesday.
Woods, who wore the number in both high school and at Southern California, fended off cornerback Jalen Ramsey for the honor. The two actively had been pursuing the number over social media, with Woods getting his way presumably due to seniority.
The Rams previously posted photoshopped images of several players wearing their college numbers, including Woods.
Woods, 29, has worn the No. 17 jersey in each of his four seasons with the Rams. He previously donned the No. 10 jersey while playing for the Buffalo Bills (2013-16).
Ramsey, 26, will continue to wear the No. 20 jersey.
Also on Tuesday, the Rams announced new wide receiver DeSean Jackson will wear the No. 1 jersey. He wore that number while playing collegiately at California.
Jackson, 34, wore the No. 10 jersey during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2008-13, 2019-20), and the No. 11 jersey with the Washington Football Team (2014-16) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2017-18).
