Report: Broken finger sidelines Bucs WR Godwin
Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin will miss Monday night’s game against the New York Giants with a broken left index finger, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday.
Godwin sustained the injury while catching a 4-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass in Sunday’s 45-20 defeat of the Las Vegas Raiders. He had surgery on Tuesday, per the report.
The Buccaneers are hopeful Godwin can return for their NFC South showdown against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.
Godwin, 24, has 25 catches for 279 yards and two touchdowns in four games this season. He has already missed three games due to injuries.
A third-round pick in 2017 out of Penn State, Godwin has 204 receptions for 2,979 yards and 19 touchdowns in 50 career games. He finished third in the NFL with 1,333 yards last season.
