Report: Jaguars release K Hauschka after ugly game

The Jacksonville Jaguars released kicker Stephen Hauschka on Monday and replaced him with Jon Brown, according to an ESPN report.

The move came one day after Hauschka missed both of his field-goal attempts against the Houston Texans, including a 24-yarder that he badly shanked. Jacksonville already has used four kickers this season with Hauschka, Aldrick Rosas and Brandon Wright each trying to fill in for an injured Josh Lambo.

Brown, who was promoted from the Jaguars’ practice squad, never has kicked in the regular season. The Kentucky and Louisville alum, who played soccer and never kicked a field goal in college, has competed for jobs during the offseason with the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers.

Lambo could return as soon as Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said. That means Brown’s stint on the active roster could be limited to next week’s game against the Detroit Lions.
