Report: Jets waiving CB Desir
The New York Jets are waiving cornerback Pierre Desir, NFL Network reported Tuesday.
Desir, 30, has started eight of his nine games this season and has 47 tackles and a team-high three interceptions, including a pick-six against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.
According to Pro Football Focus, his 47.8 overall grade ranks 71st among 75 qualified cornerbacks this season.
The Jets signed the former fourth-round draft pick to a one-year, $3.75 million deal in March that included a $2 million signing bonus and $3.25 million guaranteed, per Spotrac.
He was released by the Indianapolis Colts during the offseason after tallying 50 tackles, 11 passes defensed and three interceptions in 12 games (11 starts) in 2019.
The Colts saved $6.85 million in salary cap space with the move. Indianapolis signed him to a three-year, $22.5 million contract extension in March 2019.
Desir has 257 career tackles, 42 passes defensed, eight picks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 70 games (44 starts) with the Cleveland Browns (2014-15), the then-San Diego Chargers (2016), Colts (2017-19) and Jets.
