Report: Packers place OL Jared Veldheer on COVID-19 list

The Green Bay Packers have placed offensive lineman Jared Veldheer on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced on Wednesday.

Veldheer had hoped to make NFL history as the only person to play for two teams in the same postseason. He started at left tackle for the Indianapolis Colts in their loss against the Buffalo Bills last weekend, and the Packers signed him on Monday.

The 33-year-old was allowed to join the Packers because he was on the Colts’ practice squad and was promoted only for Indianapolis’ playoff contest.

The Packers are scheduled to host the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday afternoon for the right to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Green Bay hoped that Veldheer, who previously played for the team, could help fill the void left by injured left tackle David Bakhtiari.

Veldheer did not take part in practice Wednesday, ESPN reported. The network also reported that the Packers have been cleared through contact tracing from needing to put anyone else on the reserve/COVID-19 list immediately, but that could change depending on test results over the next few days.
