Report: Patriots bringing LB Jamie Collins back into fold

Linebacker Jamie Collins is heading back to New England for his third stint with the Patriots, ESPN reported Monday.

It remains to be seen whether Collins, who turns 33 on Oct. 20, will be signed to the active roster or the practice squad.

Collins began the 2021 season with the Detroit Lions but was released in September. He rejoined the Patriots soon after and spent the rest of the season with New England. Collins was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.

In nine seasons with the Patriots, Browns and Lions, Collins has played in 122 games (104 starts) and totaled 706 tackles (64 for loss), 26.5 sacks, 19 forced fumbles, 39 passes defensed and 12 interceptions. He recorded eight combined tackles as the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

Collins made the Pro Bowl with the Patriots in 2015, when he led the NFL with five forced fumbles. The following year, he was traded to the Browns for a conditional 2017 third-round draft pick.
