Report: Raiders OL Brown hospitalized over pregame IV
Las Vegas Raiders right tackle Trent Brown, who was ruled inactive for Sunday’s game for an undisclosed illness, was hospitalized when air entered his bloodstream during a pregame IV, the NFL Network reported early Monday.
Brown was expected to spend Sunday night in the hospital.
In his sixth NFL season and second with the Raiders, Brown has been limited to two games this season due mostly to a calf injury sustained in the opener. He also sat out the Oct. 25 game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while on the COVID-19 reserve list.
Brown, a Pro Bowl selection a season ago, was removed from the reserve list late in the week and practiced with the team in anticipation of playing Sunday in Cleveland.
A seventh-round draft pick of San Francisco in 2015, Brown spent three seasons with the 49ers. He was traded to New England and spent one season with the Patriots, before signing a four-year, $66 million contract with the Raiders in March 2019.
