Report: Rams RB Henderson has high-ankle sprain

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. reportedly sustained a high-ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

NFL Network reported the injury and noted that Henderson will undergo additional tests on Monday. Should the diagnosis be confirmed, Henderson likely will have to sit out Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Cam Akers is sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury — one that prevented him from playing in Los Angeles’ 20-9 setback on Sunday. He sustained that injury in a 23-20 loss to the New York Jets on Dec. 20.

Henderson, 23, leads the team in carries (138) and rushing yards (624). He shares the team lead in touchdowns (five) with Malcolm Brown.

Henderson has rushed for 771 yards and five touchdowns and has 20 receptions for 196 yards and a score in 28 career games with the Rams. He was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Los Angeles (9-6) can punch its ticket to the playoffs with a victory over the Cardinals (8-7) or a loss by the Chicago Bears (8-7) to the Green Bay Packers.

The Rams also are waiting for more information about the status of quarterback Jared Goff for the regular-season finale. He reportedly sustained a broken and dislocated thumb in Sunday’s game in Seattle.
