Report: Vikings brace for worst on DE Danielle Hunter

Danielle Hunter will have an MRI on Monday that could confirm the Minnesota Vikings’ fear that the defensive end sustained a torn pectoral muscle, the Star-Tribune reported.

That injury would likely be season-ending.

Hunter left Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys after playing just 27 defensive snaps. He had five tackles before leaving.

Hunter, 27, has six sacks in seven starts this season and 60.5 in 85 career games, all with the Vikings. He missed all of 2020 following neck surgery.

The Vikings and Hunter agreed on a restructured contract in June. The new arrangement called for $5.6 million of his 2021 base salary to be transferred to a signing bonus, giving him an earlier payday. Hunter had been unhappy with the five-year, $72 million extension he signed in 2018.
