Report: Vikings OL Christian Darrisaw has minor surgery
Minnesota Vikings rookie offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw had a minor core-muscle procedure Thursday, NFL Network reported.
The 2021 first-round draft pick (23rd overall), who is competing for the starting left tackle job, had the surgery in Philadelphia with specialist Dr. William Meyers, per the report.
Multiple reports said Darrisaw, 22, went to Philadelphia for a second opinion on a groin injury that has bothered him since at least June.
A source told NFL Network the visit was “good news overall” and that Darrisaw could still be ready for Minnesota’s Sept. 12 season opener at Cincinnati.
“When he’s been here, he’s been really sharp and dialed in, so mentally I don’t think it’ll be a problem,” offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak said Thursday. “He’s just got to get his physical reps and get his conditioning.”
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Darrisaw played three seasons at Virginia Tech and was a first team All-ACC selection last season.
