Reports: Aaron Rodgers not pursuing toe surgery during Packers’ bye

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is playing with a fractured pinkie toe, but ESPN and NFL Network reported Monday that he is not planning to undergo surgery to repair the injury this week while the Packers are idle.

The Packers have a bye week in Week 13 before returning to the field Dec. 12 against the Chicago Bears. That would give Rodgers some time for it to heal up before he has to play again.

But Rodgers did not seem hindered by the toe when he threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in Green Bay’s 36-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The win lifted the Packers to 9-3.

“The toe felt good most of the game,” Rodgers said Sunday. “Was just actually in talking with the docs. Not sure at this point; we’re going to do some more testing in the morning and get a better view of what’s going on in there, and then make a decision at that time.”

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Monday that surgery does not appear to be Rodgers’ course of action.

Rodgers said he broke the toe while quarantining with COVID-19 earlier this month. He did not practice all week leading up to the Rams game.

The reigning league MVP has thrown for 2,878 yards, 23 touchdowns and four interceptions with a 66.2 completion percentage in 11 games.
