Reports: Browns excuse WR Odell Beckham Jr. from practice

The Cleveland Browns excused Odell Beckham Jr. from Wednesday’s practice despite the wide receiver’s intent to participate, multiple media outlets reported.

The move comes on the heels of the NFL’s trade deadline passing on Tuesday as well as a social media firestorm ignited by Beckham’s father.

The elder Beckham posted a video to his verified Instagram account of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield failing to connect with his son on passing plays. The video was set to the song “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M.

The younger Beckham is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. He has 17 catches for 232 yards with no touchdown receptions in six games this season for the Browns (4-4).

Beckham, who turns 29 on Friday, has 504 catches for 7,062 yards with 51 touchdowns in 88 career games with the New York Giants (2014-18) and Browns.
