Reports: Falcons RT McGary avoids serious knee injury
Atlanta Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary avoided a serious knee injury and is expected to miss only one week, according to multiple reports Monday.
The 2019 first-round pick grabbed his left knee and looked to be in serious pain following a short run by Brian Hill in the first quarter of Sunday’s 40-39 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.
An MRI taken Monday revealed only a minor MCL sprain, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
McGary, 25, has started all 18 games for the Falcons since they selected him with the 31st overall pick out of Washington in the 2019 NFL Draft.
He missed part of the 2019 offseason after undergoing a cardiac ablation procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.
Matt Gono took over at right tackle after McGary was helped off the field. Gono, 24, played 40 offensive snaps in five games with Atlanta as an undrafted 2019 rookie.
