Reports: Jets to acquire DE Shaq Lawson from Texans

The New York Jets are acquiring defensive end Shaq Lawson from the Houston Texans, multiple media outlets reported on Sunday.

Per reports, the Texans will receive the Jets’ sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in exchange.

The Texans acquired Lawson and a 2021 sixth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins on March 17 in exchange for linebacker Benardrick McKinney and a seventh-rounder in the same draft.

Lawson, 27, recorded 32 tackles, four sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in 14 games (seven starts) with the Dolphins last season. He will play the second season of a three-year, $30 million contract in 2021.

Lawson has 140 tackles, 20.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in 64 career games (24 starts) with the Buffalo Bills (2016-19) and Dolphins. He was selected by the Bills with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
