Reports: Raiders WR Williams has torn labrum
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tyrell Williams has a torn labrum in his shoulder but is planning an attempt to play through it after rehab, NFL Network and ESPN reported Monday.
Williams, who signed a four-year, $44 million contract last year, including $22 million guaranteed, suffered the injury last week in practice, per the reports.
Williams, 28, plans to rehab the shoulder for the next few weeks. He suffered the same injury in 2017 with the San Diego Chargers and played through it. Having surgery would cost Williams the season with a potential recovery period of five to six months.
Williams caught touchdown passes in each of his first five games last year, his first with the Raiders. But plantar fasciitis slowed him down and he ended the season with 42 catches for 651 yards and six scores in 14 games. His catches and receiving yards were the second lowest of his career.
Williams has 197 catches for 3,181 yards and 23 touchdowns in 69 career games.
