Richard Sherman (hamstring) to avoid IR

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman will miss a couple of weeks but is expected to avoid being placed on injured reserve after injuring his hamstring last week.

An MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis. Sherman said on his podcast that it’s “nothing too serious” and that he expects to miss “at most a couple weeks.”

He recorded one tackle before exiting in the first quarter of the Buccaneers’ 28-22 win against the Eagles on Thursday night.

Sherman, 33, made his Bucs debut against the New England Patriots on Oct. 3. The five-time Pro Bowl selection has 11 tackles and one fumble recovery this season.

The Tampa Bay secondary has been hard hit by injuries this season, with each member of the starting unit missing time. Cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting (dislocated elbow) and Carlton Davis III (quad) are on injured reserve.

The Bucs (5-1) host the Chicago Bears (3-3) in Week 7.
