Saints DE Davenport (elbow) returns to practice

The New Orleans Saints got a big boost from a big player Thursday as defensive end Marcus Davenport returned to practice, albeit in limited fashion.

Davenport, sidelined for weeks with an elbow injury, could make his season debut Sunday against the Green Bay Packers if he’s able to practice again Friday. The 6-foot-6 third-year player started 13 games for the Saints last season, recording six sacks and three forced fumbles.

The Saints, who didn’t practice Wednesday after playing Monday night, listed Davenport as a non-participant in their estimated report for Wednesday.

Defensive tackle Malcom Brown (foot) did not practice Thursday. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson (groin) was a limited participant Thursday.

Wideout Michael Thomas (ankle) did not practice Thursday and could miss multiple games, including Week 3.
