49ers vs Seahawks Betting Trends, Analysis

The San Francisco 49ers are starting to get hot, as they have won two in a row, and are back in the race for first place in the NFC West. They will take on the Seattle Seahawks, who lost their first game of the season on Sunday Night in a thrilling game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The 49ers 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games and 7-1 ATS in their past eight games as underdogs, according to Trend Dummy’s weekly deep data dive. We like that trend to continue on Sunday.

Take the 49ers and the 2.5 points (as of Thursday at BetRivers) in this one.

Why the 49ers can cover the spread

After an embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, the 49ers have bounced back nicely and have won two in a row. They have scored 57 points combined in those two games. Kyle Shanahan has this team playing its best football of the season.

Seattle had a rough night against the Cardinals rushing attack, as they gave up 159 yards on the ground. The 49ers have been running the ball beautifully as of late, and will be relying on rookie JaMycal Hasty this week to carry the load, as Jeff Wilson went out with an injury last week. Hasty had 57 yards on 9 carries in spot duty last week.

If there was a week to get Jimmy Garappolo back on track, it’s this one. Seattle owns the 30th DVOA pass defense in the NFL, and have struggled getting after the Quarterback this season. Jimmy should have no trouble slinging the ball around against the Seahawks defense.

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

Russell Wilson had his worst game of the season on Sunday Night, throwing for 3 INTs, and it was the first time he finished with a passer rating of under 100.

Wilson most likely won’t throw 3 INTs again this week, so the 49ers are going to have to try and stop what has been one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL. Seattle owns the 2nd best DVOA offense in the NFL, and has put up more than 30 points in 5 of their 6 games this season.

The 49ers pass defense has been middle of the pack this year, sitting at 13th in DVOA pass defense. The Seahawks will have to exploit their defense with getting D.K Metcalf and Tyler Lockett involved early and often.

49ers Seahawks Pick

I really like the way the 49ers are playing as of late. HC Shanahan has this team rolling at all levels of the game, and I think they continue their hot play against the Seahawks. I love the 49ers at +2.5 in this one.
