Seahawks’ home renamed Lumen Field

Just in time for Seattle’s nationally televised Thursday night home game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Seahawks’ venue was renamed Lumen Field.

The stadium was known as CenturyLink Field since 2011, but the change was made after CenturyLink recently changed its name to Lumen Technologies. The telecommunications firm still has 11-plus years remaining on the 15-year, $162.7 million naming-rights deal it signed in 2017 with the stadium’s owner, Washington State Public Stadium Authority.

New signage reflecting the Lumen Field name already was in place ahead of the Seahawks-Cardinals game.

The venue opened in 2002 under the name Seahawks Stadium, and it was redubbed Qwest Field in 2004. CenturyLink acquired Qwest seven years later, prompting the next name change.

The Seahawks have played in the stadium since its opening, and the Seattle Sounders joined them as a co-tenant starting in 2009.
