Seahawks WR Gordon suspended indefinitely again

The NFL suspended Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon indefinitely again after it rescinded his conditional reinstatement Friday.

Gordon, who did not play a game in 2020, already has been suspended six times since the start of the 2013 season. Five of those suspensions were related to substance-abuse violations.

The 29-year old was headed back to the Seahawks’ roster Dec. 3 after he was conditionally reinstated, but he was still required to go through COVID-19 screening before being eligible to play the final two games of the regular season. He was added to the Seahawk’s roster Dec. 21, but the NFL rescinded that status when Gordon was found to have broken the terms of his conditional reinstatement. NFL Network reported that Gordon had a setback in his battle with substance abuse.

He has not played since he suited up for the New England Patriots and Seahawks in 2019. He played a combined 11 games that year, catching 27 passes for 426 yards and one touchdown.

A former second-round selection in the 2012 supplemental draft by the Cleveland Browns, Gordon has 247 catches in 63 games with 20 touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns, Patriots and Seahawks.

Gordon missed all of the 2015 and 2016 seasons because of violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
