The Houston Texans on Monday re-signed defensive end Derek Barnett and linebacker Neville Hewitt.

Both were unrestricted free agents. Financial terms were not disclosed on a pair of one-year deals, according to media reports.

The Texans had claimed Barnett off waivers on Nov. 27, three days after his release by the Philadelphia Eagles. Barnett, 27, also played in two playoff games (one start) and contributed seven tackles and one sack.

Hewitt, who turns 31 on Saturday, led the NFL in special teams tackles (14) last season with the Texans.
