Titans DT Tart, Bengals S Williams draw 1-game suspensions
Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Teair Tart and Cincinnati Bengals strong safety Shawn Williams each drew a one-game suspension Monday for stepping on opposing players and violating unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules.
Both players plan to appeal their suspensions, according to the NFL Network. The appeals are expected to be heard this week, and each would lose one game check if the suspensions are upheld.
Tart was ejected in the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Titans and Cleveland Browns. He appeared to deliberately step on the left leg of Browns offensive lineman Wyatt Teller, who was on the ground after trying to deliver a block.
Williams was ejected in the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Bengals and Miami Dolphins. At the end of a play, Williams looked down and stepped on the right leg of Dolphins offensive lineman Solomon Kindley.
Tart has appeared in five games for Tennessee as a rookie out of Florida International. The Titans visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Williams has played in 116 games, with 61 starts, since joining the Bengals in 2013 out of Georgia. The Bengals host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
