Titans LT Lewan confirms torn ACL, out for season

An MRI on Monday confirmed that Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Lewan, 29, left during the third quarter of the unbeaten Titans’ 42-36 overtime win against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

“Don’t feel sorry for me, I’m going to handle this rehab like a Pro and come back better than ever,” Lewan posted Monday on Twitter.

“I can’t wait to watch my guys crush it, I’m going to be the biggest titans fan each and every Sunday,” Lewan continued on Twitter. “We are doing something special here and this small set back doesn’t change a thing!”

Lewan, a first-round pick of the Titans (No. 11 overall) in 2014, is a three-time Pro Bowl selection. He has started 85 of his 90 games with Tennessee.

Ty Sambrailo, 28, who signed a one-year deal with the Titans in the offseason, replaced Lewan on Sunday.

Other options on the line include moving right tackle Dennis Kelly to the left side or putting rookie first-rounder Isaiah Wilson in the mix. Wilson has not played this season but recently returned to practice after originally being placed on the NFL reserve/COVID-19 list in July.
