Washington Football Team signs WR Adam Humphries

The Washington Football Team announced the signing of free-agent receiver Adam Humphries on Thursday.

While Washington didn’t disclose the terms of the signing, it’s a one-year deal, according to numerous reports.

Humphries, who was released by the Tennessee Titans last month, visited Washington on Thursday, according to reports. The 27-year-old Humphries joins a receiving group that was already bolstered by the free-agent signing of Curtis Samuel, formerly of the Panthers.

Humphries signed a four-year, $36 million contract with the Titans before the 2019 season, but he had the worst season of his career in 2020. He posted career-lows in catches (23) and receiving yards (228) in seven games with one start during a season that ended with him on injured reserve, leading to his release.

Humphries spent his first four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson. For his career, he has 279 receptions with 2,931 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in 79 games (21 starts).

During his time in Tampa, he spent two seasons catching passes from Ryan Fitzpatrick, who Washington signed to a one-year deal as a free agent last week. With Fitzpatrick primarily serving as his quarterback in 2018 in Tampa, Humphries made 76 receptions for 816 yards and five touchdowns, enabling him to land the huge free-agent deal with the Titans.
