The Carolina Panthers interviewed Ricky Proehl about becoming the team’s wide receivers coach and elected to hire a more seasoned assistant in Fred Graves.

But they’ve found a spot for Proehl too. The club announced this afternoon that he will serve as an offensive consultant, working primarily with Graves and the team’s wide receivers.

Proehl spent three of his 17 seasons in the NFL playing in Carolina and he played in college at Wake Forest. He resides in North Carolina, so it’s an easy situation for him to handle without the rigors of being a full-time coach.

Now, if the Panthers can just find someone to throw their receivers the ball.
